DNA Maternity Test
DNA Maternity Testing is the most advanced and accurate method available for resolving parentage for medical, legal, or personal reasons. This test will conclusively determine whether an alleged mother is the true biological mother of a child. Maternity testing is very helpful in cases of adoption reunification and IVF where a mother wishes to conclusively determine that she is the true biological mother of a child. Our laboratory provides results with greater than 99.9% probability of maternity for inclusions and 100% for exclusions. All tests are automatically run twice to ensure 100% accuracy. The full genetic report is included with every test.

Description
A DNA maternity test involves collecting a buccal swab (mouth swab) from both the child and the alleged mother. This sample contains cells that contain genetic information in the form of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). Each person’s DNA is unique, like a fingerprint, and represents a genetic blueprint.
In the laboratory, the DNA is extracted from the cells and specific regions are amplified using a process called PCR (polymerase chain reaction). This allows for careful examination of the DNA pattern. The child’s DNA pattern is then compared to that of the alleged mother.
Because a child inherits their genetic information from their biological parents, analyzing their DNA will conclusively determine whether the alleged mother is their true biological mother. This test is accurate and reliable.
Turnaround Time
With advanced DNA technology, maternity testing is accurate, rapid and affordable. Maternity can now be determined 3 to 5 business days after the samples arrive at the laboratory. Results are released immediately once the testing is completed.

FAQ
Who should consider the Private Test option?
The private home test kit option is suitable for individuals who wish to find out the truth about maternity before deciding on the next step. If a private test is ordered, a buccal swab (mouth) swab DNA kit is sent directly to the parties involved in the test for sample collection. The sample collection process is quick, easy and discreet and takes just minutes to complete. Once the laboratory receives the samples, testing is completed within 3 to 5 business days.
Can the kit be shipped to more than one address if the parties live in different cities?
If the people being tested live at different addresses, we can divide the DNA testing kit and send each part to separate locations. The kits have barcodes to make sure the samples are still tested together when they arrive at the laboratory. To get a split kit, write “please split this kit” in the comments section of the online order form and give us the name and address of where to send each part. For example, you could say “send the Alleged Father’s part to…(provide name and address)” and “send the Child’s part to…(provide name and address).” Alternatively, you can have the complete kit shipped to you and divide it yourself, and then send the parts to the other people involved in the testing.
Who should consider the Legal Test option?
Legal DNA tests are commonly used to provide court-admissible evidence for or against biological relationships in various legal scenarios, including court cases, custody and estate disputes, and inheritance. If you choose the legal testing option, we will schedule an appointment for all parties involved to provide samples at one of our designated Genetrack chain-of-custody sample collection facilities, which are located across Canada for your convenience.
What if the parties to be tested live in different cities or do not wish to attend the same appointment?
We know that it can be challenging when people involved in DNA testing live in different cities. To make things easier, we can arrange separate appointments for each person at their own location. Our scheduling department will coordinate the appointment dates for each individual, making the process as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
Is the Private Home DNA Test as accurate as the Legal Test?
The Home DNA Test is just as accurate as our standard legal tests and will provide absolutely conclusive results. The only difference between the private test and the legal test is whether the sample collection is witnessed.
