How it Works

SCC-Accredited DNA Testing

Join the countless families who trust us with their immigration DNA testing needs, and let us help you on your immigration journey.

Submit your DNA letter from IRCC/CPC

To get started, send us the written request for DNA evidence of a biological relationship that you received from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Case Processing Centre (CPC), or the High Commission of Canada.

You can send this letter to us through our online quote form, or by email at immigration@genetrackcanada.com or fax at 1-888-655-8877.

Collect DNA Samples

After payment is made, our team will promptly arrange DNA sample collection for both domestic and international participants.

For participants in Canada, our team will reach out to you to schedule a DNA sample collection appointment at a nearby location.

For participants outside Canada, we will send a testing kit to the designated migration office (for an immigration application) or the consular mission (for a citizenship application). The migration office or consular mission will then contact the participants directly to arrange a sampling appointment.

Results Sent to You and IRCC/CPC

DNA testing begins immediately after we receive all the samples and is completed within 1 to 3 business days. We’ll send you an official copy of the results and a second official copy is sent directly from our laboratory to IRCC or CPC as proof of relationship for your case.

About Immigration DNA Testing

Frequently Asked Questions

An IRCC-approved immigration DNA test is a test that is recognized and accepted by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the purposes of family reunification. You may need immigration DNA testing if you are sponsoring a family member for immigration purposes and there is insufficient evidence to prove the biological relationship between you and the sponsored person.

The cost of immigration DNA testing varies depending on the number of people being tested and where everyone is located. Please contact us directly for a personalized quote  by filling out our online quote form or contacting us by phone or email. Our team will respond within 24 hours with a personalized quote.

The DNA letter is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that informs applicants about the option to provide DNA test results for immigration and citizenship applications. To initiate the immigration DNA testing process, it is necessary to submit the DNA letter to our laboratory as it contains specific procedures and requirements for the test that depend on the locations of each family member.

DNA samples are collected by an impartial third-party specimen collector, who will use a sterile buccal swab to gently scrape the inside of the cheek to obtain a DNA sample. The collection process is quick, painless, and safe for individuals of all ages, including infants, children, and adults.

No, the family members involved in the immigration DNA test do not need to be present at the same location. Genetrack has a global network of specimen collectors to collect DNA samples from all over the world. We can coordinate the sample collection process at multiple locations, both within Canada and internationally, to accommodate the needs of your family.

If your family member is located within Canada, we will contact your family member to set up a sample collection appointment at a nearby specimen collection location.

At the time of the appointment, the family member must provide:

  • Two passport photos taken in accordance to IRCC specifications
  • Two pieces of identification to establish their identity, including one government-issued photo ID such as a provincial/territorial driver's license, permanent resident card, or Canadian passport
  • A signed release and consent form authorizing Genetrack to send the test results and photocopies of the identity documents to IRCC.

If your family member is located outside of Canada, we will send a tamper-proof DNA sample kit with detailed instructions directly to the migration office or consular mission closest to your family member. The migration office or consular mission will contact your family member to schedule an appointment for the collection process, and a migration officer or staff member will be present at the time of collection to ensure the integrity of the sampling procedure.

Yes, we take the privacy and confidentiality of our clients seriously. All personal information and test results are securely stored and only shared with authorized parties involved in the immigration process.

Our immigration DNA testing results are available within 1 to 3 business days after we receive all the DNA samples. Once the results are ready, we will provide you with an official copy of the results and send a second official copy directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the Case Processing Centre (CPC), as required.
